WE MAKE SQUARE DANCING FUN

HISTORY
Dianella Rangers logo circle.png

The Dianella Rangers Square Dance Club evolved in 1976 in a facility in Dianella, under the stewardship of Prim Calver and Peter Banham.  In 1979 Jeff VanSambeeck took over the reigns and has been the full time caller ever since, arranging a many and varied challenging range of calling - of late Kevin Fitzgerald has joined the club as co-caller, adding another dimension to the regular Club night programme. Talented Jeff has been responsible for arranging “show casing” various aspects of square dancing at many Conventions.

In the mid eighties an annual event - the Amateur Callers Event, hosted by Dianella Rangers has seen several of the entrants go further, and trained to be callers in their own right and call regularly at other clubs.

In addition to the above, an enjoyable social programme of activities ranging from a “picnic in the park” to theatre outings, enhance the opportunity to bond with the participants.

Another branch of square dancing is a “ballroom Style” of dancing, called “Rounds” - which is an important part of the regular Wednesday club night - a thirty minutes session prior to “mainstream” and club support to the session on Thursday mornings, cued by cuer Marilyn VanSambeeck.

Visitors are always welcome - come along and enjoy this  “fun and fellowship” activity.
